Programme overview

Professional Course in Reproductive Medicine and ART

The programme comprises six integrated core modules, each valued at 5 ECTS credits (30 ECTS in total), delivered through eight structured sessions. Teaching is conducted twice weekly, enabling completion of each module within approximately one month.

The programme is anchored by the official textbook, Clinical Andrology and Male Reproductive Health, together with eleven ONDAS Academy reference manuals spanning embryology, ART, genetics, and reproductive laboratory science.

Programme learning outcomes

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

Explain the scientific foundations of human reproduction, reproductive endocrinology, reproductive medicine, and assisted reproductive technology.

Analyze male reproductive endocrinology, spermatogenesis, semen biology, male infertility, and clinical andrology using current scientific evidence.

Interpret female reproductive endocrinology, ovarian physiology, menstrual cycle regulation, ovarian reserve, ovulatory dysfunction, and endocrine-related infertility.

Evaluate ovarian stimulation protocols, infertility pathways, ART procedures, IVF, ICSI, IUI, embryo-related processes, and clinical treatment planning.

Interpret reproductive laboratory investigations, semen analysis, sperm function tests, IUI preparation, diagnostic reports, and fertility assessment procedures.

Apply practical andrology laboratory principles, including specimen handling, sperm preparation, quality control, biosafety, documentation, and SOP-based practice.

Evaluate reproductive genetics, preimplantation genetic testing, fertility preservation, cryobiology, stem cell science, and emerging technologies in reproductive medicine.

Integrate research evidence, ethical principles, patient safety standards, and quality assurance practices into reproductive medicine and ART decision-making.

Evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital reproductive healthcare, within reproductive medicine and assisted reproductive technology.

Module 01 · 5 ECTS

Male Reproductive Endocrinology and Andrology Foundations

Lead: Mr. Hassan Khasro Akram & Mrs. Dania Ali Abdulkarim

Introduces the scientific foundations of male reproductive endocrinology and clinical andrology — the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis, testosterone physiology, spermatogenesis, testicular function, epididymal maturation, semen biology, seminal plasma, and the hormonal regulation of male fertility.

  • Describe the hormonal regulation of male reproduction and spermatogenesis.
  • Analyze the role of testosterone, FSH, LH, prolactin, and related hormones in male fertility.
  • Differentiate the biological functions of spermatozoa, seminal plasma, and accessory glands.
  • Interpret the relationship between endocrine balance and male reproductive health.
  • Apply male reproductive endocrinology concepts to clinical and laboratory andrology.

Female Reproductive Endocrinology and Ovarian Physiology

Covers the endocrine and physiological foundations of female reproduction — the hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian axis, follicular development, ovulation, luteal function, menstrual cycle regulation, ovarian reserve, endometrial receptivity, and common endocrine disturbances affecting female reproductive health.

  • Describe folliculogenesis, ovulation, luteal function, and menstrual cycle phases.

Ovarian Stimulation, Infertility, and ART Pathways

Focuses on infertility evaluation, ovarian stimulation, and ART pathways — patient assessment, stimulation protocols, follicular monitoring, trigger timing, oocyte retrieval, IVF, ICSI, fertilization, embryo culture and transfer, and luteal phase support, using the ONDAS approach of observation, navigation, design, analysis, and solution.

Reproductive Genetics, Stem Cells, and Fertility Preservation

Examines reproductive genetics, stem cell science, and fertility preservation — chromosomal abnormalities, inherited reproductive disorders, genetic screening, preimplantation genetic testing, genetic counselling, cryopreservation, oncofertility, and the emerging role of stem cells in future fertility care.

Andrology Laboratory, IUI Methodology, and Practical ART Skills

Lead: Mr. Hassan Khasro Akram & Mrs. Dania Ali Abdulkarim

A practical laboratory module developing applied competencies in semen analysis, sperm preparation, and IUI methodology — specimen handling, sperm concentration, motility, morphology, vitality, washing and density-gradient techniques, cryopreservation, IUI sample preparation, quality control, biosafety, and SOP-compliant documentation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Perform standardized semen collection, reception, handling, and documentation procedures.
  • Explain the principles of semen analysis according to international laboratory standards.
  • Assess sperm concentration, motility, morphology, vitality, and functional parameters.
  • Apply sperm preparation techniques including direct wash, swim-up, and density gradient methods.
  • Demonstrate basic IUI laboratory preparation and procedural support skills.
  • Apply quality control, biosafety, SOP compliance, and laboratory documentation principles.

Special Topics, Research, Quality Assurance, AI, and ONDAS Innovation in Reproductive Medicine

Lead: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Omar Khasro Akram & Mr. Hassan Khasro Akram

A capstone module unifying the programme through research methodology, laboratory quality management, accreditation, ethics, AI applications in ART, and the ONDAS Framework as a systematic theory for observing, navigating, designing, analyzing, and solving real reproductive medicine and laboratory challenges.
